Silvina Rocha is an Argentine writer, singer, and composer born in Tucumán in 1969. After many years working professionally in music, she turned increasingly to children’s literature and has since published more than twenty books. Her writing often reflects a strong interest in the interplay between words, images, and book design, and she frequently develops stories in close dialogue with illustrators.
Among her best-known works are Mateo y su gato rojo, Por qué los elefantes prefieren jugar a la mancha, Las ovejas de Lala, Como todo gato, and Mi Reino. Her books have received distinctions from ALIJA–IBBY, Fundalectura IBBY Colombia, and Argentina’s National Literature Awards, and Por qué los elefantes prefieren jugar a la mancha was selected for the prestigious White Ravens catalogue. Her work has also been translated and published internationally.
