Sebastián Santana Camargo

Sebastián Santana Camargo is a Uruguayan, illustrator, visual artist, photographer, and graphic designer. Largely self-taught, he has illustrated and written books published across Latin America and Europe, developing a distinctive body of work that moves easily between children’s literature, visual art, film, and graphic storytelling. His books include Mañana viene mi tío, a powerful illustrated work about absence and memory.

His work has received numerous honors, including the 2018 Paul Cézanne Prize, the 2014 Bartolomé Hidalgo Award, and, in 2015, both the Grand Prize and Best Picture Book Award from ALIJA, the Argentine branch of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People). He has also received distinctions from Uruguay’s Ministry of Education and Culture for his illustration and children’s literature work.
