Sara Nicolás

Sara Nicolás is a Spanish children’s author, editor, and proofreader based in Madrid. A lifelong and voracious reader, she studied Hispanic Philology and later developed her work around children’s and young adult literature. Together with writer Óscar Rull, she founded the independent publishing house Tragamanzanas, where they have published picture books and other projects for young readers. Their creative partnership has produced titles such as La liebre y el muro and ¡Ouah!.

Her work with Óscar Rull has received several distinctions, including the VI Premio Torre del Agua and the Premio A de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil for ¡Ouah! in the early readers category; they have also been finalists for the Cuatro Gatos Foundation Awards. Her books are marked by humor, playfulness, and a strong understanding of how text and image work together in the picture-book form.
