Lucía Mancilla Prieto is an Argentine illustrator born in Buenos Aires in 1982. Drawing has been central to her life since childhood, when she spent much of her time creating pictures and inventing stories. She trained in drawing through private workshops and seminars and has worked professionally as an illustrator since 2008, developing projects for publishing, advertising, fashion, institutions, murals, and animation. Her main interest is children’s and young adult illustration, particularly the visual storytelling possibilities of the picture book.
She has illustrated books for publishers including Del Naranjo, Norma-Kapelusz, Aique, Alfaguara, SM, and La Brujita de Papel, and her work has been exhibited in Argentina and abroad. In 2010, she received an ALIJA distinction for her illustrations in Mateo y su gato rojo, written by Silvina Rocha. Her other illustrated works include Hay un monstruo debajo de mi cama, Alma y Frin, and the Los casos de Anita Demare series. She currently lives in the hills of Córdoba Province, where she continues her illustration work and also co-runs Casita de Libros, a small shop devoted to illustrated books.
