Graciela Repún (1951–2025) was an Argentine writer of children’s and young adult literature whose career spanned more than 120 books, including stories, novels, poetry, plays, biographies, and adaptations. Her work was published throughout Latin America and in countries including Spain, Italy, England, France, China, and Korea. She was also a generous teacher and mentor, leading writing workshops and programs devoted to children’s literature and reading.
Among her many distinctions, Leyendas argentinas was selected for the 2002 White Ravens by the International Youth Library in Munich, one of the most respected honors in international children’s literature. She also received several Fantasía awards, recognition from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, and the La Hormiguita Viajera National Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature as a “Gran Maestra Argentina.” Repún also served on the board of ALIJA, the Argentine branch of IBBY.
