David Fernández is a Spanish editor and children’s writer, and one of the driving forces behind Pastel de Luna, an independent publishing house specializing in illustrated books for young readers. Before entering publishing, he worked for several years as a veterinarian, an experience that may help explain the frequent presence of animals in his stories. Among the writers he cites as influences are Roald Dahl, Gianni Rodari, Saki, and Arnold Lobel.
He is the coauthor, with Silvia Fernández, of Más allá, illustrated by Mercè López, a picture book that introduces children to different cultural and spiritual ideas about what may happen after death. The book received an Honor Mention from the Cuatrogatos Foundation and has been published in the United States by Syncretic Press.
