Canela, the pen name of Gigliola Zecchin, was born in Vicenza, Italy, and immigrated to Argentina, where she has lived ever since. She studied Modern Literature at the National University of Córdoba and is the author of numerous books for children and young adults.
Her book Marisa que borra received a White Ravens distinction, while La piedra de la paciencia was recognized by ALIJA for its text, illustrations, and edition. She currently works in cultural journalism and has a particular interest in the visual arts.
