Cameron (pseudonym of Julia Ortiz) studied Literature at the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay. She has worked as a proofreader, cultural contributor for the press, bookseller, and researcher, with a consistent focus on English-to-Spanish translation studies. She currently works as an editor at Criatura Editora.
It was in this context that she encountered the phrase “Go home, you can leave me. I have slept with jaguars” by Margaret Mee, used by an author as an epigraph for a book. The phrase lingered in her mind and sparked her desire to investigate Margaret’s life. What she discovered was so fascinating that she decided to share it in the form of an illustrated book.
